ResumoThe abbreviations used are: HbA, human adult hemoglobin; des-(His 146&)HbA, human adult hemoglobin in which the COOH-terminal histidine of the /3-chain has been enzymatically removed; ask, and BSH, isolated subunits having freely titratable sulfhydryl groups; HbA-carboxypeptidase A, carboxypeptidase A digested HbA in which both the COOH-terminal histidine and penultimate tyrosine of the PSH chains have been enzymatically removed.
