But their stimulating effects on gastric secretion have made it difficult to determine the indications for their use.I. Studies with Intravenous Reserpine: The methods used in these studies have been previously reported.1, 2 Briefly, all subjects were studied after an overnight fast. A Levin tube was placed in the stomach and in every instancebaseline determinations of gastric acid were made over a 30- to 90-minute period prior to the administration of any agent, placebo or otherwise.a.
