According to Brescia,1Bartolet first described this entity in 1633, and Quincke2reported the first authoritative case in 1875. Yet, 56 years later, in 1931, Van Nuys3was able to collect but 66 cases of chylothorax of all types, and according to Nowak and Barton,4only 84 cases were reported up to 1937.
