Resumo

From June 1988 up to June 1989 water monthly samples were carried out at four stations in the River Cuarto: Piedra Blanca, Tres Acequias, Rio Cuarto and La Carlota. At these four sampling stations, the physic, chemical and water patterns were registered, thus extending the ecology descriptions for the studied species as well as for the tolerance range mentioned in the consulted bibliography. From the samples analysis, twenty five taxa belonging to genera Amphipleura, Amphora, Anomoeoneis, Brachysira, Caloneis, Cymbella and Encyonema were described and drawn. A new form, Cymbella affinis Kutzing f venter Martinez de Fabricius and a new combination Encyonema minutum var. semicircularis (Lagerstedt) Martinez de Fabricius, are proposed in this paper. The species and/or varieties which are registered for the first time in Argentina are: Amphora bullatoides Hohn & Hellerman, Amphora sabiniana Reimer, Encyonema brehmii (Hustedt) D. G. Mann and Encyonema minutum (Hilse ex Rabenhorst) D. G. Mann var. semicircularis (Lagerstedt) Martinez de Fabricius comb. nov. As for the Province of COrdoba the following are news citations: Brachysira brebissonii Ross, Caloneis bacillum (Grunow) Cleve, Caloneis westii (W. Smith) Hendey, Cymbella amphicephala Nageli ex Kutzing, Cymbella cistula (Ehrenberg) Kirchner var. gibbosa Brun, Cymbella pusilla Grunow and Cymbella turgidula Grunow.
