ResumoThis work aims at contextualizing malaria in the Amazon environment, particularly in the states of Para and Amapa, with updated information from the transmitting agent of the situation and control measures taken by the ProgramaNacional de Controle da Malaria (PNCM), Sistema de Informacao de Vigilância Epidemiologica – notificacao de casos da malaria (SIVEP_ malaria), and what the possible influences that the monitoring systems have on the incidence of the disease inside the localities with high risk of malaria transmission. The impacts on human health caused by the maintenance of the incidence of malaria in high-risk area of transmission can occur through by combined mechanisms, indirector direct. In Brazil, there are several endemic infectious and parasitic diseases that are sensitive to climate stations and certain periods of the year (dry and rainy season), especially those of vector transmission. In the context of activities developed by the PNCM active case detection can be an important tool in disease control especially if coupled with epidemiological and climatic information for defining action strategies to combat the disease. Keywords: Malaria; Epidemiological Surveillance; SIVEP malaria.
