No curso do seculo 20 aparece no judaismo da Europa Central de cultura alema uma corrente de pensadores que associam o messianismo com a utopia socialista. Nos referimos aqui a dois pensadores que representam variantes bem diferentes desta cultura utopica/messiânica da Europa Central: Martin Buber, renovador da espiritualidade religiosa judaica, e Erich Fromm, freudiano-marxista de inspiracao secularizada. Ambos, no entanto, encontram nas tradicoes biblicas judaicas a fonte de sua visao utopica de um futuro mais humano. Messianism and utopia in Martin Buber´s and Erich Fromm´s philosophy - Abstract: During the 20th century, at the Central European judaism of German culture emerged a flow of scholars who associated messinianism with the socialist utopia. We are focusing here two scholars who represent quite different variations of the utopist/messianic culture of Central Europe: Martin Buber, renovator of the Jewish religious spirituality; and Erich Fromm, a Freudian-Marxist of a secularized inspiration. However, both find inthe Jewish biblical traditions the source of their utopist vision of a more humanized future.
