Resumo

The fauna found at the «La Vache» Cave, important locus of the Pyrenean Magdalenian, is completely studied for the first time. 29 species of Mammals and 21 species of Birds have been recognized. This rich fauna is a basic reference for the knowledge of the «Tardiglaciaire» in the Pyrenees, with a strong proportion of mountain species (Capra pyrenaica, Rupicapra pyrenaica, Lagopus mutus, great Accipitridae, Pyrrhocorax graculus and Montefrigilla mnivalis). Arctic species (Rangifer tarandus, Alopex lagopus, Lepus timidus) are much more frequent than temperate species (Cervus elaphus, Vulpes vulpes, Oryctolagus, Perdix perdix, Coturnix coturnix, Garrulus glandarms or Ptcus vindts. This fauna is essentially constituted by meal-remains and results from a non-selective hunting. Capra pyrenaica and Lagopus sp. provide the main part of the game. The proportion of males and females and the study of ages in the populations of Capra pyrenaica, Rupicapra pyrenaica and Rangifer tarandus let us know the seasons when the site has been occupied by the hunters and allow us to define the way they have used it.
