Resumo

In this work had been analyzed the partition coefficients (K) of α-lactalbumin (α-la) and β-lactoglobulin (β-lg) in Aqueous Two Phase Systems (ATPS) formed by polyethylene glycol (PEG) + potassium phosphate (FFP) + water, in pH 7 and 25°C. The ATPS preselected was formed by PEG of molecular mass (MM) 1500 Daltons, with concentrations 14% PEG -14% FFP, 16% PEG -14% FFP, 16% PEG -16% FFP, 18% PEG -14% FFP, 18% PEG -18% FFP. The system with 18% (w/w) PEG 1500 -18% (w/w) FFP showed the higher K for α-la and the lower k for β-lg, being the more efficient separation ATPS in our case. In this composition was investigated the influence of several molecular mass of PEG on k. The increase of the PEG molecular mass raised the concentration of α-la in the salt bottom phase, decreasing K. For β-lg was observed an inverse behavior of K on the increase of the PEG MM, except for PEG 8000 Daltons. © 2001 Altaga. All rights reserved.
