Resumo

The current at an electrode occupying one wall of a channel or duct depens on many properties of the solute, solution and cell. A knowledge of the exact dependence is important for cell optimization. A consideration of the hydrodynamics likely, to exist in such a channel, and weighing the theoretical and experimental evidence, leads one to believe that the steady-state current in a channel cell depends on the solution velocity to the one-third power. The major factor which may alter this value is the design of the entrance of the cell.
