Resumo

Abstract An overview of all families, subfamilies, genera and species of C ynipoidea present in A ustralia is presented. The A ustralian cynipoid fauna is very poorly known, with 37 genera recorded: one each for A ustrocynipidae, I baliidae and L iopteridae; two for C ynipidae; and 32 for F igitidae. The first A ustralian records are given for the following genera of E ucoilinae: A ganaspis L in, A reaspis L in, C hrestosema F örster, D idyctium R iley, E ndecameris Y oshimoto, G anaspis F örster, L eptolamina Y oshimoto, M icreriodes Y oshimoto, P seudodiranchis Y oshimoto, S inochresta L in and W eldia Y oshimoto. Nine new combinations, two new synonymies and one reinstatement are made: E ucoilinae ( F igitidae): H exacola aemilia comb. n. , H exacola florentia comb. n. , H exacola julia comb. n. , H exacola mozarti comb. n. , H exacola thoreauini comb. n. , K leidotoma marguerita comb. n. , L eptopilina lonchaeae comb. n. , L eptopilina maria comb. n. , T rybliographa australiensis stat. rev. ( R hoptromeris unimaculus Girault 1931 syn. n. ); T hrasorinae ( F igitidae): T hrasorus berlesi comb. n. ( T hrasorus rieki P aretas‐ M artínez & P ujade‐ V illar 2011 syn. n. ). Aspects on the systematics, distribution, biology and morphology of all cynipoid families and figitid subfamilies in A ustralia are given. A multi‐character online key to the genera of A ustralian C ynipoidea can be found at http://www.ces.csiro.au/keys/Hymenoptera/Australian_Cynipoidea/Australian‐Cynipoidea‐Keys.html .
