ResumoThe intense exploitation of resources caused damage to ecosystems and, with the environmental crisis, the fundamentals of politics, society and the economy bring out the paradigm of sustainable business development. The approach of this trend along with the theory of organizational ecology proposes an analogy with the characteristics of the natural selection of Darwin and market convergence for social and environmentally responsible practices, concentrating the focus of the strategies on populations, emphasizing the complexity and turbulence of markets and verifying the conditions for the balance of the dimensions of sustainability in the organizational environment. This theoretical essay deals with the sustainable entrepreneurship under the foundations of the Theory of Population Ecology, by Hannan and Freeman (1977).
