“Com o andar de Robert Taylor”, from the book Quando fui morto em Cuba (1982), written by Roberto Drummond, and “Aconteceu na Praca XV”, from the book Pedras de Calcuta (1977), written by Caio Fernando Abreu, they are both short stories where we can observe memory's presence in the present time in a very deep way, above all, the protagonists character's present time. The protagonists sensation related to the true that it's not possible to came back to the origin state after a great happening in their life, it implies in a restructuration of the way that they understand the present time. Keep in mind this fact, we analyze theses short stories and established some considerations and comparisons between them. Among the themes figured out in narratives, the military dictatorship was the one highlighted for us that really approximate both text. As a method of work, we consider some concepts about Maurice Halbwachs's collective memory theory, from the book The collective Memory (1950). Take into account this theory, we analyzed and interpreted some memory manifestations in short stories. Spite of the special attention that we dedicated to the space question related to the memory, our theoretical support is also composed not only by some works linked to Drummond and Abreu's works but also by some studies related to the theoretical perspective adopted by us.
