ResumoThe aim of this study was to make an environmental diagnostic of Rio da Ilha hydrographic basin from City of Taquara, RS. The study it was motivated in face of the interest of the city administration to intend to invest in the sustainable tourism. Analysis of quality of the water of the streams was taken; inventory of fauna and flora; socio-economic and ambient perception of population, generating, thus, an ambient and partner-economic microzoning for the area of the hydrographic basin. Of the study one perceived that it has possibility of implantation of a sustainable tourism in the Region. The ambient conditions exist, but land use and ecological patterns and process have to be understood. The city shows Atlantic Forest landscape, that if characterizes for a diversity of species of flora and fauna. One concludes, however, that for implementation of such tourism program, needs investment in Public Politics with the aim, and it necessity of a contact more direct with the local population is perceived.
