ResumoExcess molar volume, VmE has been calculated from experimental density data for liquid mixtures of dimethyl carbonate with octane over the temperature range from 278.15 to 353.15 K and for pressures up to the lowest of either near the appearance of liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE) of this mixture or 25 MPa. We propose a new fitting equation of the excess molar volumes as a function of temperature, T, mole fraction, x, and pressure, p. We have never seen, such a correlation in literature. This equation was used to fit 717 experimental VmE values for the dimethyl carbonate+octane mixture, obtaining a standard deviation (0.023 cm3 mol−1) slightly higher than the experimental uncertainty (0.005 cm3 mol−1) and than the standard deviation obtained for the VmE (x) correlations for each isobar and isotherm (around 0.020 cm3 mol−1).
