ASPECTOS ALIMENTARES DE Dasyatis guttata (ELASMOBRANCHII, DASYATIDAE) NA COSTA MARANHENSE

ResumoO estudo descreve o habito alimentar da raia Dasyatis guttata , encontrada no litoral do Maranhao, no periodo de setembro de 1997 a fevereiro de 1999. A arte de pesca utilizada foi a rede de emalhar de deriva com tamanho medio de 2.500 m e altura de 2,5 m e malha de grilon com abertura de 50 mm, sendo que a profundidade do mar nos locais de captura variou de 2 a 5 metros. Verificou-se os aspectos quali-quantitativos do regime alimentar de Dasyatis guttata , visando determinar os itens preferidos pela especie. Tanto machos quanto femeas alimentaram-se principalmente de crustaceos braquiuros, seguidos de poliquetas, peixes e larvas de decapodos. O item priapulida, encontrado apenas em femeas, ainda nao tinha sido relatado na alimentacao da especie estudada, mas devido ao baixo percentual de ocorrencia (1%), pode-se inferir que e um alimento ocasional e nao faz parte da sua dieta normal. Em relacao a idade, constatou-se um padrao estatisticamente identico para a alimentacao de individuos jovens e adultos. Com base nestes resultados, consideramos Dasyatis guttata um predador com comportamento alimentar oportunista, nao sendo constatadas variacoes ontogenetica e sexual nos exemplares analisados. ABSTRACT Alimentary aspects of Dasyatis guttata (Elasmobranchii, Dasyatidae) from Maranhao coast. This study describes the alimentary habit of the ray Dasyatis guttata ray, found inhabitting the coast of the Maranhao, from september 1997 to february of 1999. The practice of fishing used was the dritt gill net left with average size of 2.500 meters, 2,5 meters height and mesh size of 50 mm, being that depth of the sea in the capture places the 5 meters had varied of 2 meters. Was verified the quali-quantitative aspects of the diet of Dasyatis guttata , aiming to determine the item preferred for the species. Male as female had been fed mainly of brachyurans, followed by poliychaets, fish and larvae of decapodos. The priapulida, found only in females, had still not been reported in the diet of the studied species, but as it was registred low percentage of occurrence (1%), it can be inferred that it is an occasional diet and is not part of its normal diet. In relation to the age, an identical standard for the feed of young individuals and was evidenced adult individuals. Based on these results, we consider Dasyatis guttata a predator with opportunist alimentary behavior, not being evidenced variations how much the age and how much to the sex in the analyzed units.
