ResumoMangroves are characteristic tropical and subtropical coastal ecosystems of transition between marine and land environments, with temperatures over 20°C. The present study had as objective to determine the tenors of Al, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Ni, Cd, Pb, Cr and V in the sediments of mangroves influenced by petroleum. Samples were taken at 7 stations (1 control site). Metals were extracted from the sediment with HNO3 50% and the extracted metals were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. Highest tenors of Zn, Cr, Cd, V, Pb and organic matter were observed at the station 6. Results comparisons of this work with other studies carried out in the Todos os Santos Bay showed an enrichment of Mn and Cd in the sediments and a reduction in the Cu, Pb and concentrations.
