ResumoA review is given on recent work on the central star — white dwarf transition zone. Classifications and analyses of central stars of old planetary nebulae are discussed and it is shown that present day observations imply the existence of two seperated spectral evolutionary sequences for hydrogen-rich and -poor central stars/white dwarfs.
