ResumoRecent progress in quantum optics suggests that quantum computers may one day be built based on single photons routed through a circuit of simple optical elements: mirrors and small bits of glass. Such circuitry would revolutionize information technology, allowing fast solution of some of the most difficult computational problems and enhancing ultrasecure communication systems.
