ResumoVelamentous insertion of the cord is commoner in abortion specimens than in fullterm infants, and it is associated with a high incidence of malformations. Possible factors causing velamentous insertion of the cord in man are: oblique implantation, deep implantation, or unequal expansion of the amniotic sac.
