ResumoWe develop a relativistic formalism for the evaluation of the axial form factor of the deuteron in the hamiltonian form of the light-front dynamics. We calculate the parity-violating assymmetry in the elastic cross sections for electrons initially polarized in the beam direction and for polarized recoil deuterons. These asymmetries are sensitive to the presence of strangeness in the nucleon. Calculations are performed for momentum transfers up to 5 (GeV/c)2. The consistency relations for the matrix elements of the electromagnetic and axial currents are examined.
