ResumoThe present article highlights the political participation of Caio Prado Junior, between his start at the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB), in 1931, and the fragmentation of the Estado Novo (1945). Along this argumentation, there is an attempt to show that the author of Formacao do Brasil Contemporâneo, in spite of a strict proximity to the soviet canon, guided himself by alternating between a critical position supporting and the compromise and the denial to accept the oficialism of party decisions, drawn from the same canon, the one that guided the greatest part of the political fight among the communist leftist in our country.
