Resumo

O meio mais eficiente encontrado para preservar as comunidades biologicas, reduzindo os efeitos negativos resultantes das atividades humanas e o estabelecimento de areas legalmente protegidas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a atual situacao do Parque Ecologico da Lagoa da Jansen enquanto Unidade de Conservacao de Protecao Integral, analisando seu enquadramento na categoria Parque e as suas formas de uso mais conflitantes. Para tanto, foram realizadas pesquisa de campo entre os meses de maio e agosto de 2006 e definidas as classes de unidades de paisagem. As informacoes obtidas indicam que a Companhia de Aguas e Esgotos do Maranhao e o principal agente responsavel pela degradacao da area. O enquadramento da UC como Parque deve ser revisto ja que nao atende os requisitos estabelecidos pelo Sistema Nacional de Unidades de Conservacao. Abstract Analysis of a Unit of Conservation of Integral Protection: the case of the ecological park of the Jansen Lagoon, Sao Luis, MA The most efficient mean to preserve the biological communities and reducing the negative effect from the human activities is the establishment of legally protected areas. The objective of this work was to evaluate the current situation of the Ecological Park of the Jansen Lagoon as a Unit of Conservation of Integral Protection, analyzing its framing in the category Park and the most conflicting forms of its use. For this purpose, field research between the months of May and August of 2006 was done to define the classes of units of landscape. The data obtained indicates that Company of Water and Sewage of Maranhao is the main responsible agent for the degradation of this area. The framing of the UC as Park must be reviewed since it does not comply with the requirements established for the National System of Units of Conservation. Key words: evaluation, park, framing, use.
