ResumoThis work was carried out to study efficiency of chemical and thermo processes to reduce pathogens in sewage sludge, to recycle it in agriculture. Sewage sludge was collected in dry bed of Sanepar, Maringa-PR. There were three treatments: control, chemical (liming, 25% dry weight); and thermo (we hot, in vertical autoclave, 121oC, during 2 hours, and press of 1,05 kg/cm2, repeated a day after). Test were done to verify presence of thermotolerant and total coliform, Salmonella sp. and viable helminthes eggs. It was verified that both chemical and thermo processes were able to reduce pathogen populations, allowing agriculture use of sewage sludge.
