ResumoThe healthcare reform in Romania underwent a series of changes meant to contribute to providing improved ambulatory and emergency medical care to the population. The most recent decisions concerning the healthcare reform were meant to reorganize the hospital system, a situation that made it more difficult to provide medical services to the population. The selected case study was meant to illustrate the on-site consequences of shutting down several hospitals in Caras-Severin county, consequences consisting in an increase in the influx of population to the county hospital in Resita. The biggest problem concerns the difficulties faced by the inhabitants of the county’s border regions in gaining accessibility to the Resita hospital.
