ResumoDue to its relative abundance of arable and grazing land, Brazil has become a large exporter of coffee, sugar, ethanol, soybean oil and oil cakes, various kinds of meat, citrus fruit, etc. But rural Brazil continues nevertheless to suffer from unequal distribution of farmland, as evidenced by the economic situation in the regions of Itajuipe-Coaraci and Valente (the state of Bahia). The implementation of land reform in Brazil should not be considered exclusively in terms of social justice but also on economic grounds.
