Abstract Ser 4 ‐oxytocin and Ala 4 ‐oxytocin have been synthesized and found to possess biological properties not very different from those of isotocin. Ser 5 ‐oxytocin and Ala 5 ‐oxytocin have also been prepared and found to be almost inactive. An hypothesis concerning the mode of fixation of oxytocin on its receptor is presented.
