Abordamos processos de invencao e reinvencao da maranhensidade, a partir da analise de discursos, praticas e experiencias sobre um momento do processo historico (decadas de 40 e 50 do seculo XX) em que o bumba-meu-boi, manifestacao da cultura popular, comeca, de modo acentuado, a fazer parte do texto que identifica, significa e propaga o maranhense e o Maranhao. ABSTRACT It is approach processes of invention and reinvention of the maranhensity. For that, it is analyzed discourses, practices and experiences about a moment of the historical process (decades of 40 and 50 of XX century) where the bumba-meu-boi, manifestation of the popular culture, starts, in accented way, to be part of the text that identify, mean and propaga the maranhense and the Maranhao.
