Resumo

The genusMonostroma Thuret is characterized by a heteromorphous life-cycle and special developmental features of its type-speciesMonostroma bullosum. M. oxyspermum differs from these characteristics and must be excluded from this genus. Its definite taxonomic position depends on further information to be obtained on the development of related species.
