ResumoStatic quadrupole moments of the first excited states of $^{28}\mathrm{Si}$, $^{32}\mathrm{S}$, and $^{40}\mathrm{Ar}$ have been measured using the reorientation effect in projectile Coulomb excitation. The results obtained are $Q(^{28}\mathrm{Si}, {2}^{+})=+0.11\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.05$ b, $Q(^{32}\mathrm{S}, {2}^{+})=\ensuremath{-}0.20\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.06$ b, and $Q(^{40}\mathrm{Ar}, {2}^{+})=+0.01\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.04$ b.
