ResumoThe purpose of the present paper is to present and foment some reflections about Brazilian geographical names studies and searching field. In this context we are considering relational aspects to ethnography, etymology, geographical and history. Also considering economical aspects to support geographical indications to registry of patents from geographical names. Last, but not least, the implantation in Brazil of Authority in Geographical Names, aiming standard this knowing area in Brazil
