ResumoThe work focuses on the historical review of the 82nd meridian of Greenwich conceived as maritime boundary by Colombia and stated in the Act of Exchange Treaty between Colombia and Territorial Issues Nicaragua 1928 the theoretical contributions of the maritime geopolitics applied to the case is reviewed of the Wider Caribbean and particularly against Nicaragua and Colombia to explain the facts and trends that shaped the decisions of the Colombian state during the period 1900 to 2012, special emphasis is placed on the contributions of American geopolitical strategist and naval explain the interest and motivation to expand their influence, control and hold on one of the most strategic regions of the American continent with consequent impacts to national security that resulted in this geopolitical influence decision makers during the proposed study.
