O estudo mostra a aproximacao do pensamento de Oswaldo Rodrigues Cabral com o da alta hierarquia catolica apos a Segunda Grande Guerra Mundial, momento de efervescencia do humanismo cristao e de participacao ativa e engajada de uma elite catolica nos meios politicos e institucionais. Para o episcopado catarinense, Oswaldo Cabral representava o que era de mais desejavel, ja que cumpria os pre-requisitos da lideranca leiga inspirada na “democracia crista”. Por isso, algumas de suas obras podem ser lidas como uma especie de justificacao dos poderes de normalizacao e de tentativa de “purificacao” dos valores cristao-catolicos na sociedade catarinense. Abstract: This study shows the closeness between Oswaldo Rodrigues Cabral’s thought and the high catholic hierarchy thought after the Second World War, a moment of effervescence of the Christian humanism and the active and engaged participation of a catholic elite in the political and institutional environments. Oswaldo Cabral was the apple of the eye of the episcopate of Santa Catarina because he fulfilled the requirements of the lay leadership inspired on the “Christian democracy”. Thus, part of his work can be read as a type of justification of the normalization power and an attempt to “purify” the Christian-catholic values in the society of Santa Catarina.
