Resumo

Our interest in Psychological Styles (i.e. Sanchez- Lopez , 1997) has lead us to look for an instrument of personality evaluation in which Psychological Styles (PS) is considered. Theodore Millon personality model and the Millon Index of Personality Styles (MIPS) fitted particularly well with those requirements. So, our aim was to adapt this inventory to be applied to the Spanish speaking population and especially to be used in our country. The MIPS is a questionnaire focusing the study of personality styles in three fields: Motivation Aims, Cognitive Styles and links or interpersonal behaviors. To carry out its adaptation, we have applied the questionnaire to 565 subjects, 26.4 years old in mean. The descriptive profiles are similar to those elaborated by Millon himself. Reliability and validity data as well as a factorial analysis support the proposed structure and confirm its validity to be used in the Spanish population.
