Mato Eles? (1982), reconhecidamente um classico do documentario brasileiro, introduz na obra de Sergio Bianchi muitos – talvez mesmo a maioria – dos procedimentos e obsessoes cinematograficos que acompanharao seu trabalho dali por diante. O texto que se arma a seguir visa discutir nao so algumas balizas do campo do cinema documentario, mas a maneira heterodoxa como Bianchi se utilizara de algumas das tradicoes desse campo, fundando a sua propria forma de fazer ficcao a partir dessa experiencia. De passagem, o artigo visa dar algumas indicacoes de como tanto a categoria da resistencia estetico-politica quanto da etnografia – muito enraizada em certa tradicao do cinema documentario – sao reperspectivadas pelo trabalho do diretor, nesse filme em especial. Mato Eles? (1982), a classic in the Brazilian documentary tradition, inaugurates, in the work of Sergio Bianchi, many – if not most – of the cinematic procedures and obsessions that would be present in his work onwards. The present article aims at discussing not only some of the questions belonging to the documentary field, but also the unorthodox way in which Bianchi uses some of its traditions in his own personal way, mostly in fictional cinema. Meanwhile, this article brings to discussion how the aesthetic and political category of resistance, as well the ethnography one, present in the documentary tradition, are shifted and twisted by the work of the director, and specifically in Mato Eles? .
