Resumo

A study of that rare but distinctive clinical entity benign chronic bullous dermatosis of childhood has been in progress since 1977. Our preliminary findings published in 1980 [11] were in broad agreement with other workers [3, 6–8] but our more recent findings reported here show the need for considerable revision of our original view of this disease. We now prefer to call the condition linear IgA dermatosis of childhood and Table 1 summarises the changes which have emerged regarding the clinical features of the disorder.
