Resumo

In spite of the search of consistence (absence of contradictions) being an important aim of science, we can show that it is possible to make progress on the basis of provisional inconsistent foundations. We argue that this circumstance does not imply any kind of irrationality. In this context, we consider Bohr theory (1913).
