ResumoThe conductivity and photosensitivity of cadmium sulfide crystals can be controlled by the incorporation of suitable impurities. The conductivity and photosensitivity are increased by the incorporation of a halide or a trivalent cation, and decreased by the incorporation of copper or silver. A possible mechanism by which such impurities may produce the observed effects on the photoconductivity is presented.
