Neste artigo, tem-se por objetivo analisar as relacoes intertextuais que se estabe-lecem entre o romance Ensaio sobre a cegueira de Jose Saramago e certos proverbios, com base na perspectiva dialogica da linguagem, oriunda das reflexoes desenvolvidas pelo Circulo de Bakhtin, e por analistas do discurso sobre o tema da intertextualidade e dos proverbios. Por meio das analises, e possivel confirmar que, na maioria das ocorrencias, o autor procura ali-nhar o seu discurso aqueles geralmente reiterados por pessoas que proferem os mesmos ditos cotidianamente, ou seja, a finalidade principal, neste caso, e asseverar ao discurso um tom de verdade inquestionavel por meio do resgate de uma sabedoria que transcende tempo e espaco. INTERTEXTUAL RELATIONS IN ENSAIO SOBRE A CEGUEIRA: DIALOGUE WITH PROVERBIAL UTTERANCES In this article, we analyze the intertextual relationships established between the novel Ensaio sobre a cegueira, by Jose Saramago, and certain sayings, based on dialogical perspective of language, originally developed by the reflections of Bakhtin Circle, and ana-lysts discourse on the topic of intertextuality and Sayings. Through this analysis, we can con-firm that, in most instances, the author seeks to align his speech to those often repeated by people who speak the same sayings daily, i.e., the main purpose in this case is to assert the speech tone of unquestionable truth through redemption of a wisdom that transcends time and space.
