ResumoAbstract Kinetic measurements have been made for phosphoglucomutase with fructose 1,6-diphosphate, fructose 1-phosphate, fructose 6-phosphate, glucose 1-phosphate, glucose 6-phosphate, mannose 1-phosphate, mannose 6-phosphate, ribose 1-phosphate, ribose 5-phosphate, galactose 1-phosphate, and galactose 6-phosphate. For the monophosphates of fructose and ribose, evidence is presented for a rate-limiting step within the central complex. The equilibrium ratio for mannose-6-P to mannose-1-P has been estimated to be 10, and that for α-glucose-6-P to β-glucose-6-P to be 0.7.
