Resumo

INTRODUCTION: women's Fluminense won a special gift, the Women's Hospital Heloneida Studart (HMHS), opened in Sao Joao de Meriti on March 7th 2010, by the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Sergio Cabral, and the Secretary of State Health and Civil Defense, Sergio Cortes. The Chief of Staff, Dilma Rousseff, current President of the Republic, was present. It was created from the technical evaluations, which pointed to the need for a health unit of high complexity, exclusively for women in this region. The building area is 13, 000 m2, with two floors assistance. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We performed approximately 2400 cases of percutaneous breast biopsy guided by ultrasound or mammography. We will document the number of histopathologic findings of malignant breast blastoma. Patients scheduled dates of the procedures for biopsies by themselves according to the imaging exam that revealed the injury (mammography or ultrasound), in the radiology department at HMHS. RESULTS: from July 2011 to July 2012 were approximately 742 diagnosed cases of breast cancer. DISCUSSION: governamental models must preconize the prevention of breast cancer developed in conjunction with multidisciplinary teams. Cases diagnosed in the begining often do not need to supplement chemotherapy, burdening the state proportionately less. CONCLUSION: it is essential to the existence of poles of radiology for the early diagnosis of malignant breast lesions in low-income patients.
