Resumoby 35%.Conclusions: These data are consistent with the notion that 5ASA decreases Akt activation through multiple mechanisms regulating PTEN.We show that PTEN is affected by 5ASA-induced PPARγ activation as well as 5ASA-mediated inhibition of oxidation.Furthermore, PPARγ itself is involved in the antioxidant system and establishes an important role for the regulation of ROS by 5ASA in both cell signaling and gene expression.Taken together, we suggest these mechanisms have the potential to prevent β catenin S552 phosphorylation and therefore reduce PC activation.
