O presente trabalho tem como objetivo expor o processo de consolidacao do Mercosul, como tambem fazer uma incursao nas atividades do grupo de trabalho no ensino de Historia e Geografia, do Setor Educacional do Mercosul, apresentando suas acoes, reflexoes e perspectivas. Para isso, o trabalho esta estruturado em dois subtemas e as consideracoes finais. No primeiro subtema, intitulado “A formacao do Mercado Comum do Sul – Mercosul”, expoe-se o processo historico de formacao do Mercosul. O segundo subtema tem como titulo “A criacao do SEM e as reflexoes, perspectivas e acoes do grupo de trabalho no ensino de Historia no Mercosul”. Neste segundo subtema, realiza-se uma incursao nos documentos dos seminarios dos especialistas no ensino de Historia, a fim de apresentar as reflexoes, perspectivas e acoes para o ensino de Historia na Educacao Basica dos Estados-Partes que compoem o Mercosul. Este trabalho se concluiu sinalizando que a necessidade de integracao social e cultural possibilitou a criacao do Setor Educacional do Mercosul – SEM - e, posteriormente, a formacao do grupo de trabalho no ensino de Historia e Geografia, cuja preocupacao foi incorporar conteudos curriculares minimos de Historia de cada um dos paises do Mercosul e discutir sobre um ensino de Historia que veiculasse abordagens comparativas que possibilitassem a identificacao de tracos de identidade comuns, que promovessem uma historia menos prejudicial ao “outro”; que contemplassem a integracao social e o direito a diferenca e a conformacao de praticas politicas compartilhadas e a uma sociedade plural. Abstract The purpose of the present study is to expose the process of consolidation of the MERCOSUL, as well as making an incursion in the activities of the workgroup in the teaching of History and Geography, of MERCOSUL’s Educational Sector, presenting its actions, reflections and perspectives. Thus, the study is structured into two subthemes and the final considerations. In the first subtheme, entitled “The formation of the Common Market of the South – MERCOSUL”, exposes the historical process of formation of the MERCOSUL. The second subtheme has the title “The creation of the SEM and reflections, perspectives and actions for the teaching of History in the Basic Education of the States-Parties that compose the MERCOSUL. The conclusion of this study signaled the need for social and cultural integration that enabled the creation of MERCOSUL’s Educational Sector – SEM and, later, the formation of the workgroup in the teaching of History and Geography, whose concern was to incorporate the minimum curricular contents of History for each of the countries of the MERCOSUL and discuss about teaching History that included comparative approaches that enabled the identification of traces of common identity, which promoted a history less prejudicial to the “other”; which contemplated the social integration and the right to the difference and to the conformation of shared political practices and to a plural society.
