Resumo(...) The physiognomy and floristic composition vary greatly between sites; the forests of the Nkhata Bay Lake-shore are characterized by a largely discontinuous and species-poor canopy (dominated by Brachystegia spp.) but lianas are better developed than elsewhere. In the Malawi Hills and foothills of Mt Mulanje the tree flora is more diverse. Epiphytes are poorly represented overall. Altogether 220 species of trees and woody shrubs have been recorded (Rubiaceae and Euphorbiaceae are the two main families) and over 70 climbers. (...)
