ResumoWe report a patient diagnosed as having subacute encephalopathy with frequent seizures in alcoholics (SESA syndrome), in which recurrent, non-convulsive seizures of frontal origin contributed significantly to the alteration of the mental state. Our case suggests that the occurrence of episodes of complex partial status epilepticus (CPSE) may contribute greatly to the origin and pathophysiology of the confusional state in this rare, epileptic entity.
