ResumoPeter Benenson was a champion of “prisoners of conscience” and founder of Amnesty International. During his six years at its helm, he developed an approach to campaigning that provided a blueprint for the human rights movement. He was ambitious, innovative, and occasionally reckless, sparking controversies that would cast a shadow over the organization he had founded.
