Resumo: Rafael Suárez é doutor em Ciências Naturais (UNLP, Argentina) e pesquisador do Museu de Arqueologia e Ciências Naturais de Salto, Uruguai. No livro Arqueología prehistórica em la localidade arroyo Catalán Chico, ele propõe uma nova interpretação da tecnologia lítica local - e por consequência, da cultura e vida social dos habitantes pré-históricos - além de buscar uma valorização dos sítios da região que sofrem degradação constante por consequência da atividade mineira sem, ao menos, terem sido reconhecidos como monumento de interesse cultural do país.Abstract: Rafael Suárez holds a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences (UNLP, Argentina) and a researcher at the Museum of Archeology and Natural Sciences in Salto, Uruguay. In the book Prehistoric Archeology in the Catalan Chico locality, he proposes a new interpretation of the local lithic technology - and consequently, of the culture and social life of the prehistoric inhabitants - as well as seeking a valuation of the sites of the region that suffer constant degradation by consequence of mining activity without at least being recognized as a monument of cultural interest in the country.
