Este artigo propoe-se a fazer uma sintese da historia da psicologia clinica, enfatizando a abordagem psicanalitica, seus conceitos principais, tais como: id, ego e superego, as fases do desenvolvimento psicossexual e os instrumentos tecnicos propostos por Sigmund Freud, seu criador, em fins do seculo XIX, em Viena. Posteriormente, sera destacada a historia das abordagens familiares, que tiveram suas origens na referida psicanalise. Da mesma forma, serao revisados seus principais conceitos, tais como: paciente identificado, a nocao sistemica de que os “todos” sao tao importantes como as “partes”, a ideia de duplo vinculo, fronteiras e hierarquia familiar, entre outros. Serao destaques tambem alguns dos terapeutas familiares pioneiros nesta pratica clinica e suas contribuicoes em meados do seculo XX, nos Estados Unidos.Mostrando como as duas abordagens estao contextualizadas e correlacionando-as entre si, aborda-se os elos de ligacao entre ambas, o que tem em comum e em que aspectos estao em divergencia favorecendo uma compreensao mais aprofundada sobre o tema em questao. Abstract: This article offers a synthesis of the history of clinical psychology, emphasizing the psychoanalytical approach, its principal concepts, such as: id, ego and superego, the psychosexual phases of development and the technical instruments proposed by its creater, Sigmund Freud, in the late 19 th century in Vienna. The article then highlights the history of family approaches, which had their origins in psychoanalysis. The principal concepts are reviewed such as: the identified patient; the systemic notion that the “whole” is as important as the “parts”; the idea of a dual link; family borders and family hierarchy, among others. Some of the pioneer family therapists in this clinical practice from the mid 20 th century in the United States will also be reviewed along with their contributions. The paper shows how the two approaches are contextualized and co-related to each other and analyzes the links between the two, and their similarities and differences, allowing a deeper understanding of the theme.
