A alelopatia e um fenomeno que ocorre largamente em comunidades de plantas, sendo um mecanismo pelo qual determinadas plantas interferem no desenvolvimento de outras. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o potencial alelopatico de tres especies de Eugenia nativas do Rio Grande do Sul ( E. uniflora Berg, E. pyriformis Cambess. e E. involucrata DC.) na germinacao e no desenvolvimento inicial de Lactuca sativa (alface). Foram preparados cinco gerbox com uma camada de papel filtro e 10 ml da solucao de extrato de folhas com agua destilada, realizados no Laboratorio de Botânica da UNIJUI-RS. Em seguida, 20 sementes de alface foram distribuidas uniformemente nas placas para cada especie, e para a testemunha sem a solucao, e acondicionadas em casa de vegetacao com temperatura media de 25oC. Foram avaliados os indices de sobrevivencia e o crescimento das plântulas. A analise dos dados mostra uma diferenca significativa na porcentagem de germinacao para a especie E. pyriformis – 71%, diferindo da testemunha - 89%. A interferencia de E. pyriformis se confirmou no IVG. E. involucrata apresentou interferencia significativa no desenvolvimento das plântulas e a especie E. uniflora nao apresentou efeitos significativos. (Myrtaceae) about the germinative process of Lactuca sativa . The allelopathy is a phenomenon that happens largely at plants communities, being a mechanism from witch certain plants interfere in the development of others. The objective of this work was to evaluate the allelopathic potential of three native species of Eugenia of the Rio Grande do Sul ( E. uniflora Berg, E. pyriformis Cambess., E. involucrata DC.) in the germination and the initial development of Lactuca sativa (lettuce). Were prepared five gerbox with a layer of filter paper and 10ml of the solution of leaves stratum with distilled water, realized at the botany laboratory of the UNIJUI-RS. Then, 20 lettuce seeds were distributed evenly on the plates for each species, and for the witness without the solution, and conditioned in a house of vegetation with an average temperature of 25oC. Were evaluated the survival levels and the seedling growth. The analysis of the data show a significant difference on the germination percentage for the E. pyriformis species – 71% (b), differing of the witness – 89% (a). The interference of the E. pyriformis was confirmed on the IVG. E. involucrata presented significant interference at the seedlings development and the E. uniflora species did not present significant effects.
