ResumoAntiphospholipid antibody syndrome is associated to several disorders, especially: venous and arterial thrombosis, abortion and thrombocytopenia. Dermatologic signs and symptoms are present in about 41% of such cases. Thesyndrome is confirmed by elevated plasma levels of lupus anticoagulant antibody and/or anticardiolipin antibody. The authors report a case of primary antiphospholipid antibody syndrome in a 28-year-old woman with chronic leg ulcer, two spontaneous abortions in the first trimester, four episodes of deep venous thrombosis in the lower limbs, livedo reticularis, elevated levels of lupus antibody anticoagulant and anticardiolipin antibody. Prophylactic therapy with salicylic acid for thrombotic events was not effective. Continuous warfarin therapy prevented these episodes, but the ulcer did not heal.
