ResumoThe cantiga upon which I will be focusing is the ninth and final text by Meogo contained in the Cancioneiro da Biblioteca Nacional (CBN 1192) and the Cancioneiro da Biblioteca Vaticana (CV 797). Most commonly referred to by its initial verse (“Digades, filha, mia filha velida”), this poem is a highly conventional piece, yet it presents a number of analytical complexities, not the least of which is the emotional and contentious fictional conversation between a young woman and her mother that takes place within it. 2 The poem, which consists of six short stanzas, reads as follows:
